On the evening of September 22, 2019, the 15th Medical Team to Malta, invited by Shanghai Electric Power (Malta), went to Marsaxlokk, Malta to participate in the "Chinese Culture Night" community free clinic, which was warmly welcomed by the community residents. At the same time, the Chinese Culture Center and Confucius Institute also participated in the Chinese Culture Night.
Counsellor Zhou Shijie from Econimic and Commercial Counsellor's Office of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Malta came to express his appreciation for the medical team's free clinic activities and fully affirmed the significance of free clinic.
At the beginning of the event, the things put by the medical team members immediately attracted the local residents; they came to consult the doctors various problems, our doctors patiently answered and did acupuncture, massage, cupping and other traditional Chinese medicine treatment for the local residents. Director Geng Tao did massage for the residents, Dr. Xu Guojie did cupping, acupuncture and moxibustion for patients; Dr. Shao Qinghua introduced medicine, the medical team and the theory of TCM; Dr. Geng Hao explained the exhibits answered various questions; Ms Pan Yixin helped to take photos and translate. Chef Hua Zhong helped to carry exhibits and equipment, and doing logistics work as well.
Many of the patients said that their pain had been alleviated, and they were amazed by the miraculous efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Ms. Elenia Desira, Vice Mayor of Marsaxlokk, expressed great interest in our team's exhibits and she enjoyed the massage treatment that Director Geng Tao did for her, which is a unique TCM therapy. She was amazed and praised the medical team members ‘excellent medical skills.
Our team treated more than 100 patients that night. The excellent medical skills and dedication of the medical team touched the local residents. We felt very proud and worthwhile.
The residents also experienced traditional Chinese culture and enjoyed acrobatic performances.
The Mid-Autumn Festival made us missed our hometown and motherland. We determined bring love to Maltese people through free clinics activities, thus more and more local residents have a better understanding of traditional Chinese medical culture, thus further enhancing the friendship between China and Malta.
